Objecting to the safety concerns of the Lakewood Police chief Rob Lawson the township committee is pushing to grant a permit that will allow alcohol to be served during the rock festival taking place at Blue claws stadium in October. Committeeman Lichtenstein said if the chief wont sign the permit he will have the LIC approve it according to a report in the Lakewood shopper. The township passed an ordnance restricting the carrying of fire arms and weapons into the stadium because of safety concerns. The chief expressed his reservations fearing violence can breakout during the 2 day concert festival.
Notably these concerts did have violence erupt just this year at events in east Rutherford NJ. The LIC Lakewood Industrial commission, is not an elected body but appointed by the township has control of events at BlueClaws stadium.
