- At the Peekskill yeshiva dinner last night, the crowd welcomed and  sang chasdei Hashem for the Rosh HaYeshiva who was in a car accident a few weeks ago from an ice storm.

- Most adults nationwide, 55%, say that Trump has not paid enough attention to the country’s most important problems and 62% feel he has not gone far enough in trying to reduce the price of everyday goods. Sizable shares across party lines share the latter view, including 47% of Republicans, 65% of independents and 73% of Democrats  CNN poll

- At the Lakewood BOE meeting last night the board attorney went after app reporters after a series of articles showcasing his high salary  while the district is cash strapped. The attorney mocked the articles and headlines calling it boring and defended the arrangement he has with the district after suing and winning cases.

- The Jackson Board of Education has approved the closure and sale of Christa McAuliffe Middle School, located at 35 S. Hope Chapel Road, as part of an effort to address the district’s ongoing financial struggles. Under the newly approved reorganization plan, Liberty High School will serve as the district’s only high school, while Memorial High School will house 7th and 8th graders. The Goetz School will now accommodate 5th and 6th graders, and McAuliffe will shut its doors permanently.
 
- Toms River Regional schools are in negotiation to sell the district's headquarters building at 1144 Hooper Ave. to Ocean County, with the sale expected to close a $12.4-million budget gap.

-Voting tonight: Salary Increases for Township Officials:
Lakewood township officials are set to vote on salary raises tomorrow night. The mayor's salary remains at $108k, while committee members will receive a 3.5k raise after a 20k increase last year. Deputy Mayor Menashe Miller will see a 10k raise after last year's 20k boost. The Chief of Police's salary will increase by 65k, from $265k to $330k. Meanwhile, taxes on residents have been raised by over $1000 per household.
