Kids home from camp? Things to do in and around Lakewood

Staten Island Ferry - Batter State Park either to walk along the water in NY and then return - or go to Governors island - it is a full day adventure. Gov Island ferry right next door to SI ferry under 12 free adults $2. Alpine slides biking and other fun activities.

-Doorbroook sprayground in Monmouth now open 
-Fort Delaware - great day trip with ferry, tram, old fort 
-Cape may zoo 
-Atlantic City- Ripleys, boating, Recycling Center - Surprisingly a great family trip 
-Philadelphia- Franklin Museum, US Mint (Free)
-Poconos 2 and a half hrs from Lkwd
-Diggerland 
-Storybook land 
-Holmdel Park - great top playground, small free zoo - with milking Beach 
-Trenton Planetarium and tour the state house 
-Safari backpacks at Huber Woods Park (or a different Monmouth park) with a stop at Mount Mitchel Overlook
-Allaire state park with a stop at Atlantic Farms(with biking, nature center, old village, train and picnic its a full day, no playground) 
-Popcorn zoo
Parks: 
-Jackson Jungle (Jackson) - Fantastic playground for all ages 
-Castle Park (Toms River)- also great playground and fields 
-Rockefeller Park (Ocean park) - playgrounds, fields and bike paths [No propane grilling] 
-Allaire State Park - $5 per car - playground, nature center, bike paths, train ride ($4\person, 15 minutes) and old village 
-Pine Park (Lakewood) - multiple playgrounds 
-Lakewood Lake - Boating, ducks and playgrounds on north and south side 
-Riverwood Park (Toms River) - playground and fields, supposedly a creek for wading
