An open house-style meeting on the Route 9 Corridor Study will be held on Wednesday, September 28th, in Lakewood at the Municipal Building to detail the study team's recommendations for corridor improvements. See meeting flyer for details. The meeting featured information stations with opportunities for the public to provide feedback, maps detailing the proposed improvements and information about the Access Management Plan, which will aid municipalities in better managing the impact of traffic from future development along the corridor.Access Management attempts to balance the need to provide good mobility for through traffic with the requirements for reasonable access to adjacent land uses. The techniques are to consolidate and align driveways where possible or provide access to side streets instead of the state highway directly, particularly for left turns. This improves safety and improves traffic flow on the state highway by eliminating conflict points.
