Local elections aside (Twsp,BOE), The Lakewood Vaad will issue its endorsements of candidates next week prior to the elections. In previous presidential elections the vaad endorsed presidential candidates in 2004 the vaad endorsed George W. Bush, (43) writing in the Vaad election letter "in consideration for his outstanding positions on family issues, domestic security and of significant consequences for Acheinu B'nai Yisroel in Eretz Yisroel."
This presidential election, both candidates have Lakewood connections. Donald Trump, for one, appointed noted philanthropist and republican activist Dr. Richard Roberts of Lakewood as one of his Israel advisory committee. Additionaly Donald's son in laws's family, the Kushners' are donors to Lakewood institutions.
Mrs. Clinton was in Lakewood 10 years ago for a fundraiser and was also involved in securing grants to benefit Lakewood social services. Most of Lakewood usually votes republican and will decide on their own who to vote for but it would be interesting to see what the vaad will do.
