With over 100 teachers facing layoffs the board did not vote on the budget and held off on the layoffs hoping the state will come through with some sort of funding either a one time shot in the arm or via a loan. Nj.com reports the state monitor for Lakewood schools, David Shafter, said he would not approve the vote because of the budget shortfall and called it "irresponsible."
