Need a loan or extra money? the Lakewood township has a surplus of money and they plan to give $1 million dollars to the Lakewood Board of Education. Not only are tax payers paying for the School tax but now the township is giving away money from the municipal portion of property taxes to the Board of Ed. It is the states obligation to provide the funding but since the township collected so much tax money its only right that they give it to the boe. There is a resolution for the Upcoming Township committee meeting to grant the money
"Resolution Of The Township Of Lakewood, County Of Ocean, State Of New Jersey, Providing School Funding For Lakewood Board Of Education For The 2017-18 School Year".
The BOE initially asked for a loan but officials said they cant loan and will give a grant instead. The money is expected to restore athletic programs that were cut from the budget. According to a report in the APP Committeeman Lichtenstein and Mayor Coles said they will approve the money, and Attorney Michael Inzelbuch said it will sway him to come back as board attorney if the loan is granted, but the state has to find a wa to provide more funding to the district.
