The controversial Digital Billboards are starting to be erected throughout Lakewood. They are not the small type but more like those you see in Manhattan. The first one is going up at the intersection of Hurly and Cedarbridge Avenue. After a long battle a few members of the township committee approved these boards to go up. The committee took an active role on getting it approved and facilitated a deal between the billboard owners and a local news company. Residents voiced serious concerns with safety issues as numerous studies show it increases car accidents by distracting drivers. In addition to safety there was also concern about the content that will be displayed on the screens.
