Ray Coles announced in an article discussing the new innovative pool rental service app, Pools 4 you, that the renting of pools in Lakewood is now illegal. Be careful not to advertise your pool for rent. You will be fined, according the Mayor. Summer day camps will not be allowed to rent anyone's pools and even if the pool is owned by the camp it must be inspected and maintained according to ADA and health department standards. If you own a summer day camp and would like to use a pool you are now out of luck.

Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles said the township has cited residents for an illegal change of use when officials have found homeowners renting out their pools
"Most of them stop once they are made aware of the fact that it is not legal to do this," Coles said. "Many do not realize the liability issues or the fact that their pool is now considered a commercial venture."
Homeowners who persist even after they've been cited for renting pools can be fined, and can also be reported to the Ocean County Department of Health, which has jurisdiction over public pools in the county, Coles said.
