The 2018 Municipal budget will be voted on by the township committee. Officials proudly point out that taxes did not go up for the municipal portion. However they wont reduce it either or give back any of the surplus monies. They also use an old trick of the cap bank balance allowing the govt to tax more than the allowable 2% by carrying balances from previous years. If they dont raise property taxes as much as it is permitted to do, they get to hold onto the unused amount in a 'cap bank' for three years.
The total anticipated 2018 budget is $94,850 Million total revenue anticipated for municipal budget. $58, 464,000 will be directly raised from local taxes. The rest comes from additional revenue.
According to the numbers there is a $23 million anticipated surplus.
