The BOE Meeting was not something the Tax payers wanted to hear, While explaining the $28 million loan the budget director said that Lakewood is on a trajectory to ask for over $40 Million dollar loan as it keeps borrowing from the state and has to payback the loans.
The Board Attorney Kept on mentioning the need to be mindful of the tax payers again and again which seemed like one big joke as the board approved more spending for after school programs, a $3 Million dollar contract for custodial services, and money for uniforms for the marching band. As an insult it was pointed out how the BOE is saving money by having J2 Pizza of Lakewood donate the food for the meeting instead of having the district pay for it.
-BOE Member Mr. Heriberto Rodriguez who resigned last week because of the loan after he voted for it has rejoined the board again after he made it a priority that the board will work to convert the loan into a grant
-The 600k Attorney contract was not mentioned nor was the new legal fees for another lawyer who will take over when the current attorney has a conflict of interest.
-The State Monitor at the meeting changed an item on the agenda it initially gave Yeshiva Toras Aaron $7,500.00/month for a students out of district tuition it was corrected to be only $750.
Was it only a typo?
The Monitor also asked to discuss the Motion to approve Robert S. Finger, Consultant Services for at a rate of $125.00 per hour. Mr Fingere who is currently assistant Business administrator said he was not renewing his contract for next year due to health concerns but now was back for a new position.
