R' Aaron Lang a math teacher since 2003 who is fighting the state DOE to provide Lakewood schools with more funding was demoted by the board members 2 of them were also his students at Belmar Yeshiva.
Students and parents showed up at the BOE meeting to stand up for and protest the transfer of their beloved Lakewood high principal and vice principal to another school. In the end, despite their pleas the Board members voted to transfer them to the Piner elementary school.
The board also voted to transfer Lakewood Math teacher R' Arthur Lang a BMG alumnus and Lawyer, from his teaching job at the high school to a 8th grade teachers position. A commentor notedo that 2 of the BOE members were students of Mr. Lang at Belmar yeshiva yet they they did not stand up for him one voted to transfer and the other was a no show. The high school currently has 5 vacancies for math teachers and only 2 permanent ones including Mr. Lang. No explanation was given as to the transfer.
APP reports Mr. Lang filed an affidavit claiming the demotion has to do with his lawsuit since he subpoenaed district officials to testify in the case. Officials declined to comment.
Mr. Lang has filed a lawsuit 5 years ago against the state funding formula that it does not providing Lakewood students with a thorough and Efficient Education. IN a interview with the Yated Ne'eman R' Aron Lang said he put in hundreds of hours into the case all pro bono if he would bill at an hourly rate it would be over $2.5 Million. He sais he will never quit and wil take the case to the supreme court.
That case has just concluded and a ruling is expected by the end of the year
