Submitted.
The Township said it would enforce the parking on N. Crest  before changing it to a 1 way street. They say that Buses  will now go down N. Crest. Currently buses dont go on other streets in Westgate that are 1 way and hundreds of kids will still be walking to the main street. Why are a few well connected people getting their way.  This will inconvenience a lot of residents and put the safety of children and pedestrians at risk with cars flying down N. Crest if it becomes 1 way.  Traffic will now be diverted to the back parking lots creating a very dangerous situation.

Levaya will take place at Shomrei Hadas 2:00 pm 14th and 38th in Boror Park.
Matzav.com It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Meir Zlotowitz zt”l, founder of ArtScroll/Mesorah Publications and one of the greatest disseminators of Torah in history. He was 72.

Rabbi Zlotowitz, who resided in Flatbush, Brooklyn, led the “ArtScroll Revolution,” a transformation in the availability of Torah literature in English and Hebrew.
Rabbi Zlotowitz, during his formative years, studied at Mesivta Tiferes Yerushalayim, becoming a close talmid of Rav Moshe Feinstein zt”l and, later, his son, Rav Dovid Feinstein.

After completing yeshiva, he became director of a high-end graphics studio in New York. The firm, named ArtScroll Studios, produced brochures, invitations, and kesubos. First located on Coney Island Avenue, the company later moved to Second Avenue in Brooklyn.

Rabbi Nosson Scherman, then principal of Yeshiva Karlin Stolin Boro Park, was recommended to Rabbi Zlotowitz as someone who could write copy and they collaborated on a few projects.

In late 1975, a close friend of Rabbi Zlotowitz, Rabbi Meir Fogel, passed away, prompting Rabbi Zlotowitz to do something in his memory. As Purim was a few months away, he decided to write an English translation and commentary on Megillas Esther and asked Rabbi Scherman to write the introduction. The sefer was completed in honor of the shloshim and sold out its first edition of 20,000 copies within two months.

With the encouragement of Rav Moshe Feinstein, Rav Yaakov Kamenetsky, Rav Mordechai Gifter and other gedolei Yisroel, Rabbi Zlotowitz continued producing commentaries, beginning with a translation and commentary on the rest of the five megillos. He went on to publish translations and commentaries on the Torah, Neviim, the Haggadah, the siddur, the machzor, Mishnayos, and more.

ArtScroll has produced, to date, over 2,000 books, including seforim, novels, history books, children’s books and textbooks, and is now the largest publishers of Jewish books in the United States.

ArtScroll is perhaps most well known for its transformative Shottenstein Edition of the Talmud, which opened up Gemara learning for people the world over.

Rabbi Zlotowitz himself authored or co-authored, or served as general editor of, ArtScroll’s Talmud, Chumash, Tanach, Siddur, and Machzor series; Megillas Esther, Megillas Eichah, Koheles, Rus,Shir HaShirim, Yonah, Chanukah: Its history, observance and significance; Succos: Its significance, laws and prayers; Shema Yisrael; Pirkei Avos; and other volumes.

Rabbi Zlotowitz had recently been feeling unwell and underwent a procedure, from which he was recovering. He had a setback on Shabbos and passed away.

It is difficult to quantify just how great an impact Rabbi Zlotowitz had on the Jewish world. Perhaps no other individual in the last century had as colossal an influence on the world of Torah as he did.

His passing plunges the Jewish world into mourning, bringing to an end a life that saw extraordinary accomplishments in Torah publishing, unlike anything ever seen before. Rabbi Zlotowitz is truly irreplaceable.

Rabbi Zlotowitz is survived by an illustrious family of bnei and bnos Torah, including his children, R’ Ira Zlotowitz, R’ Gedaliah Zlotowitz, Mrs. Estie Dicker and Mrs. Tzivi Munk.

Levaya details will be posted shortly.

NWS Confirms 2 Tornadoes In Howell

HOWELL, NJ Patch.com—(June 24, 2017) The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes touched down during Saturday morning's severe storm. see Video below
The worst of the damage was centered around the Route 9/West Farms Road area, police said, with Ideal Plaza and the Home Depot receiving "considerable damage," police said.

The weather service said the first tornado was the one seen in the now widely circulated video taken by Brett M. Dzadik at the Home Depot. That tornado touched down at 7:21 a.m., rated an EF-0, had wind speeds of up to 75 mph and a path of about 40 yards wide for about a half-mile, the service said.

The second tornado, also an EF-0, touched down at 7:27 a.m. and also had maximum winds of 75 mph, the weather service said. That tornado caused the damage seen at Oak Glen Park, and traveled about three-tenths of a mile with a path about 25 yards wide, the service said.

The tornadoes were spawned by a severe line of thunderstorms that dumped heavy rain across much of New Jersey early Saturday morning. In addition to the Howell tornadoes, a microburst caused damage to buildings and trees in Browns Mills, Pemberton Township, the weather service said.

Howell police, in a post on Facebook, said the winds from the storm lifted two occupied cars into each other in a parking lot, and multiple downed trees forced the closure of Oak Glen Park.

The worst of the damage was centered around the Route 9/West Farms Road area, police said, with Ideal Plaza and the Home Depot receiving "considerable damage," police said.

The weather service said the storm survey found several trees uprooted and snapped in the Home Depot parking lot where the tornado had approximately touched down. The tornado tore metal roofing from the Chase Bank that was later found a half-mile away. The tornado uprooted trees at the southbound jughandle on Route 9 and West Farms Road, and at Ideal Plaza. A large metal container for clothing donations was knocked over. Three cars that were parked in the shopping center parking lot at the time the tornado moved through were pushed into each other. The tornado caused roofing and siding damage to the building occupied by Ice Cream on Route 9. A fence and additional trees were downed on the property as well. The cloth draping on a nearby billboard sign was torn off.

The tornado likely dissipated shortly after, the weather service said.
