Letter: Taking The Lead
Letter written to BOE attorney in the event he does not accept the position as board attorney for next year.
"I beg of you on behalf of the residents and overtaxed neighbors that live in Lakewood, please do not return to your previous ways, by continuing to file additional lawsuits against the Lakewood BOE district even after you resign as board attorney. This town can not afford any of those lawsuits, as this is taking away from the minimal taxpayer money Lakewood has to pat its teachers and employees. In other words your lawsuits, force all of us Lakewood residents to give you money out of our pockets to cover legal costs."

Primary Elections Write In Campaign
Submitted.
I want to urge you again to vote on June 5th and write in LOUIE FOLLMAN and HAROLD HERSKOWITZ on the Republican primary ballot. These 2 individuals have proven that they care about Lakewood.
The incumbents are telling you to vote for them because of achdus, and that any opponents are looking to divide the community. This is not true! Ask yourself – do the incumbents really care only about unity? Or is it because they have their own interests in mind? They have been in power for well over a decade! Have their actions done anything to improve the uncontrolled growth? Is traffic getting any better? Is it easier to get our children into school?
Don't let them take your vote for granted! You have the right and achrayus to expect your elected officials to deliver.
They say Daas torah is on their side. That is not true! If in doubt, ask you own Rav whether you must vote for the people in charge for the last 15 years who failed to address the main issues hurting our town. Ask your Rav, whether it is not better to replace them with people who truly care about the Olam.
Don't underestimate the difference you can make! Let's show up in even stronger numbers than last year and send a message to those in power that we can and must do better.

Governor Murphy signs bill to reinstate ObamaCare individual mandate
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) on Wednesday signed a bill into law that will reinstate the Obamacare individual mandate as the state attempts to stabilize its health care markets The Hill reports.
The bill implements a statewide fee for New Jersey residents who don't obtain health insurance through their job, Medicaid, or another source, NJ.com reports. The plan is similar to a provision of the Affordable Care Act that was repealed by the GOP tax law last year. New Jersey Democrats sent the bill to Murphy's office last month, making the state the first to reinstate the individual mandate after the Republican repeal of the federal provision.
New Jersey lawmakers say the state mandate is necessary to stabilize health insurance costs that were adversely affected by the mandate's repeal.
Republican efforts in Congress "will usher in an era of higher health insurance costs for everyone and lower health coverage rates. We want to protect New Jersey from the negative impact," state Sen. Troy Singleton (D) told NJ.com.
Just under 200,000 New Jersey residents paid the individual mandate fees in 2015 rather than obtaining health insurance, the website reports. Those funds will now be directed to the New Jersey Health Insurance Premium Security Fund, which Murphy also signed into law this week.
Total fees collected that year under the mandate equaled about $93 million, according to the website.
Republicans have called the individual mandate an unfair tax on Americans who choose not to purchase health insurance, and made overturning the Obama-era provision of the Affordable Care Act a top priority of the GOP Congress last year.

Audio: Message about the Write In Campaign for Primary Elections in Lakewood
Neither I or Louie Follman are officially running on the ballot we were asked to run and decided not to run for personal reasons but it seems a lot of people are upset they are sick of voting for the same people again and again for the past 15 years and getting the same results higher taxes more traffic problems with the school budget and its all tied together. The fault of the 2 individuals who we've been voting for the last 15 years I understand everyone's frustrations so does Louie he put himself on the line when he was on the planning board to try to stop what is going on and he got repaid by being removed from the planning board
we were asked if we would run in the general election as independent candidate and we both felt that we didn't want to do it.
we were asked if we would let people write us in and Louie and I agreed that we would be honored if they wrote us in and if for some reason we won we would run in the general election as a republican candidate but in order to do that people have to go out and write us in and spell our names correctly
we are not running an official campaign its being put together by well meaning concerned residents of Lakewood who are fed up with what is going on we just saw what is going on we just borrowed 28 million the school budget and its going to get worse because we have unfettered growth that we keep disregarding we don't care how many accidents happen every day endangering peoples life, we don't care if we have enough water or enough infrastructure , we don't care how many hours a day people suit in traffic all we just want to make sure that the the developers, builders investors and brokers get whatever they want and all this is done with the help of M&M and it would be great if we can put an end to this
It will be an honor if everyone can vote and write us in on Tueday June 5th on the republican ballot there is a button to push for a write in next to the republican name of maneashe Miller and Bruce Stern to write in you must spell it correctly LOUIE FOLLMAN and HAROLD HERSKOWITZ not Hershkowitz. If we can get a lot of people who are fed up with what is going on maybe we can do something and we appreciate the support we didn't expect this we didn't ask for it but we are very honored that people feel that we can make a change and we will do whatever we have to to put a stop to what is going on.

BOE Meeting Recap: Next year Lakewood will Need a $40 Million Loan
See Full Video below
The BOE Meeting was not something the Tax payers wanted to hear, While explaining the $28 million loan the budget director said that Lakewood is on a trajectory to ask for over $40 Million dollar loan as it keeps borrowing from the state and has to payback the loans.
The Board Attorney Kept on mentioning the need to be mindful of the tax payers again and again which seemed like one big joke as the board approved more spending for after school programs, a $3 Million dollar contract for custodial services, and money for uniforms for the marching band. As an insult it was pointed out how the BOE is saving money by having J2 Pizza of Lakewood donate the food for the meeting instead of having the district pay for it.
-BOE Member Mr. Heriberto Rodriguez who resigned last week because of the loan after he voted for it has rejoined the board again after he made it a priority that the board will work to convert the loan into a grant
-The 600k Attorney contract was not mentioned nor was the new legal fees for another lawyer who will take over when the current attorney has a conflict of interest.
-The State Monitor at the meeting changed an item on the agenda it initially gave Yeshiva Toras Aaron $7,500.00/month for a students out of district tuition it was corrected to be only $750.
Was it only a typo?
The Monitor also asked to discuss the Motion to approve Robert S. Finger, Consultant Services for at a rate of $125.00 per hour. Mr Fingere who is currently assistant Business administrator said he was not renewing his contract for next year due to health concerns but now was back for a new position.

Report on Rav Moshe Sternbuch Visit to Lakewood
Hamodia Newspaper reports on Harav Sternbuch's visit to Lakewood , NJ
To tunes of “yamim al yamei melech tosif,” crowds off all ages turned out to catch a glance of Harav Moshe Sternbuch, shlita, the Rav and Av Beis Din (Raavad) of the Eidah Hachareidis of Yerushalayim, on his brief visit to Lakewood Thursday afternoon.
At Beth Medrash Gevoha (BMG), thousands crowded into the yeshivah’s largest room to hear the Raavad deliver a shiur in Meseches Shabbos, followed by divrei chizuk. Later in the afternoon, he was greeted at public kabbalas panim held outside of Yeshivas Ohel Moshe.
Harav Malkiel Kotler, Rosh Yeshivas BMG, quoting the hesped which the Satmar Rebbe, Harav Yoel Teitelbaum, zy”a, delivered in honor of Harav Ahron Kotler, zt”l, said that the Rebbe had praised the Rosh Yeshivah’s adherence to the accolade that Chazal give to Aaron haKohen “sh”lo shinah,” that he did not
change, and that the same stubborn adherence to the mesorah of Klal Yisrael could be applied to the city’s honored guest.
“The Raavad upholds the Torah through his harbotzas haTorah, his leadership, and his sefarim without any deviations, in total purity,” he said.
The location of the event held special significance as the yeshivah, Ohel Moshe, is named in honor of Harav Moshe Schneider, zt”l, who led a yeshivah in London where the Raavad learned as a bachur for several, years becoming one of his Rosh Yeshivah’s closest talmidim.
Each speaker made mention of that connection, and the Raavad himself quoted his Rebbi in his brief remarks.
“Rav Moshe Schneider, zt”l, always said that he only wanted bnei Torah in the yeshivah…to him being a ben Torah meant that everything a bachur does is Torah, wherever he goes and whatever he does,” said the Raavad.
The Raavad’s visit has been met with great enthusiasm, as he has not visited America for roughly 20 years and, due to his weakened physical health, he rarely travels abroad.
Among the multitudes who turned out to greet the Raavad were children from local chadarim, and bachurim from nearby yeshivos who had been brought by their rebbeim to see and hear a gadol b’Yisrael who was privileged to absorb the Torah and kedushah of the Brisker Rav, the Chazon Ish and other giants of previous generations. The Raavad seemed to direct several of his comments to the younger members of those gathered at the event.
“A bachur must know the zechus that he has to sit and learn Torah,” he said. “The Torah is sweet and [through learning] one is privileged to sense its sweetness.”
