Matzav.com- It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Kalman Krohn zt”l. He was 67 years old.

Rav Kalman battled illness for the last period, enduring immense yissurim with fortitude and bitachon.

Rav Kalman was a tzaddik who devoted his life to Torah and avodas Hashem. Much of the chesed he performed was conducted under the radar, as he raised money for those in need without fanfare.

Rav Kalman was a powerful mashpiah, whose shmuessen and shiurim were compelling and penetrating, moving his listeners to raise their level of avodas Hashem, avodas hamiddos and limud haTorah.

Rav Kalman delivered a weekly vaad to yungeleit and bochurim, imbuing in them pure hashkafah and imparting life lessons that remained with them for years after.

For decades, Rav Kalman delivered a multi-hour shiur at Bais Medrash Govoah on the night of Shavuos to hundreds of youth. For 5 hours straight, first in the dining room of Bais Medrash Govoah and later in Bais Medrash Ateres Brocha, Rav Kalman kept the youth enraptured with chiddushim, vertlach, stories and insights, also drawing older, seasoned talmidei chachomim and yungeleit, who wished to drink from his wellsprings of knowledge and overflowing yiras Shomayim.

The passing of Rav Kalman leaves a gaping void in the hearts of Lakewood residents and those beyond who were inspired and touched by Rav Kalman’s purity, his love of Hashem and his Torah, and his boundless ahavah for other Yidden.

Rav Kalman is survived by his rebbetzin, Mrs. Naomi Krohn, and their wonderful family.

Undertaking to Build Multiple Subsidized Wedding Halls in Lakewood for Rabbeim and Youngeleit

Matzav reports Last night, Mr. Kalman (Carey) Wolchok, Conference Chairman at the Motzoei Shabbos Plenary Session at the Torah Umesorah Presidents Conference in Florida, made a colossal announcement. Stating his desire to assist the mechanchim of Klal Yisroel, Mr. Wolchok announced that he will be launching a new undertaking in honor of the bas mitzvahs of his triplet daughters.

Mr. Wolchok will be undertaking an endeavor that will great assist rabbeim, who are burdened by tremendous financial obligations, not the least of which is marrying off their children. Thus, he will be sponsoring the construction of several new wedding halls in Lakewood, NJ.

“When our rabbeim, our klei kodesh, make chasunos, they think about: Who’s going to pay the bill?” he said. “…There’s lachatz.”

The idea was suggested to create a simcha hall in Lakewood and allow rabbeim to have subsidized chasunos there.

And that’s exactly what Mr. Wolchok said he will do.

Mr. Wolchok stated that the details of this undertaking have not been worked out yet, but the land, he related, has already been pledged by Beth Medrash Govoah via its menahel, R’ Aaron Kotler.

It has been proposed thus far to build at least two simcha halls in this new complex.

“It’s an emotional thing to be able to give a crazy idea,” he said. “Hakadosh Boruch Hu is allowing my family, Tami and I, to give a gift to our triplets for their bas mitzvah of a simcha hall in Lakewood run by Torah Umesorah. Who gets that type of opportunity in their life?”

This comment was greeted with a standing ovation from the Presidents Conference crowd.

Mr. Wolchok said he hopes for the groundbreaking to take place in two years.

Lakewood Chaveirim Update on Traffic Today

Lakewood chaveirim: A special thank you to the many Chaveirim members who devoted time and energy in the cold early Tuesday morning(12/25), helping drop-off and pickup hours at schools run smoothly. Despite the thousands of cars, most locations that had substantial traffic in the past, proceeded without trouble.

Two areas are still posing a huge challenge, -Oak/Vine Area
Even though we were able to reduce the wait time substantially, that is still no comfort to anyone who was stuck in traffic. The volume of cars is simply greater than the infrastructure is capable of handling in such a short amount of time.  Even though we cannot make the traffic disappear, we keep trying to improve and come up with new solutions to help reduce the traffic pains in Lakewoo

Patch- More details were released as police identified the four victims killed in a two-vehicle collision on the Garden State Parkway on Wednesday morning, police said. The two-car Toms River crash killed Kevin Quispe-Prieto, 21, of Beachwood and Jimmy Quispe-Prieto, 23, Victor Lugo, 24, and Robert Ordenana, 23, all of Lakewood, police said. The crash happened at 2:50 a.m. when troopers responded to a report of a crash involving a sedan and a tanker truck on the southbound Garden State Parkway at milepost 81.5, authorities said. Based on
the preliminary investigation, Quispe-Prieto was driving an Infiniti G37 sedan in the right lane when he struck the rear of the truck, police said. As a result of the collision, all four occupants sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Video shows that the car appeared to strike the truck in its rear and was wedged under the vehicle.

The State Police initially reported that the accident happened in Berkeley Township. The crash actually happened just north of there, in Toms Rive
