Two Israeli embassy staff members were shot and killed in front of the Jewish Museum in Washington DC. The victims of the antisemitic attack in DC,  Yaron Lischinsky and his girlfriend Sarah Milgram HYD ZL

Israeli Embassy Spokesperson in Washington, Tal Naim Cohen:
Two staff members at the Israeli Embassy were shot at close range this evening while attending a Jewish event at the Capitol Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C.

- Suspect was detained on scene while yelling free Palestine
According to D.C. police, the shooting suspect who killed two Israeli embassy staff in DC tonight is in custody.
"The suspect chanted free free Palestine while in custody."
The suspect is 30-year-year Elias Rodriguez of Chicago.

Ambassador Leiter: The couple murdered tonight were about to get engaged. He bought her a ring to give it to her next week in Jerusalem. We are strong people. Israelis are strong, and Americans are strong. Together, we will stand, and together, we will overcome. I spoke with the US President, who told me that the administration will do everything to fight anti-Semitism.

-Trump: These horrible D.C. killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end, NOW! Hatred and Radicalism have no place in the USA. Condolences to the families of the victims. So sad that such things as this can happen! God Bless You ALL!
US Homeland Secretary of State Kristi Noem identifies both of those killed in the shooting outside the Jewish Museum in Washington as staffers at the Israeli Embassy.
“We are actively investigating and working to get more information to share. Please pray for the families of the victims,” she writes on X. “We will bring this depraved perpetrator to justice.”

Eyewitness Yoni Kalin tells FOX5 about the capture of the shooter in Washington: "I saw someone running, the security guard let him in, apparently he thought he was a victim. He was covered in rain and was in shock. Some people gave him water. He asked them to call the police. 10 minutes later the police arrived and he said 'I did it', said he was unarmed, took a red keffiyeh out of his pocket and started shouting 'Free Palestine, Intifada revolution'"

A divided Supreme Court on Thursday blocked the creation of the nation's first religious charter school, a major case about the separation of church and state.

- Trump: “THE ONE, BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL” has PASSED the House of Representatives! This is arguably the most significant piece of Legislation that will ever be signed in the History of our Country! The Bill includes MASSIVE Tax CUTS, No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, Tax Deductions when you purchase an American Made Vehicle, along with strong Border Security measures, Pay Raises for our ICE and Border Patrol Agents, Funding for the Golden Dome, “TRUMP Savings Accounts” for newborn babies, and much more! Great job by Speaker Mike Johnson, and the House Leadership, and thank you to every Republican who voted YES on this Historic Bill! Now, it’s time for our friends in the United States Senate to get to work, and send this Bill to my desk AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! There is no time to waste. The Democrats have lost control of themselves, and are aimlessly wandering around, showing no confidence, grit, or determination. They have forgotten their landslide loss in the Presidential Election, and are warped in the past, hoping someday to revive Open Borders for the World’s criminals to be able to pour into our Country, men to be able to play in women’s sports, and transgender for everybody. They don’t realize that these things, and so many more like them, will NEVER AGAIN happen!

- Adirei HaTorah update: The ma’amad will feature inspiring words from rabbonim representing different parts of the lakewood community, highlighting how the partnership between working families and yungeleit has strengthened the entire community. Special emphasis will be placed on how this partnership has enhanced family life, chinuch habonim, and the overall ruach of Lakewood’s kehillos.

The Rosh HaYeshiva  Rav Malkiel emphasized that the upcoming ma’amad represents more than just an organizational milestone—it embodies a kiddush Hashem that strengthens the very foundations of our community.
The Rosh HaYeshiva shared how the Adirei HaTorah initiative has begun to resonate far beyond Lakewood, spreading to frum communities worldwide. “What began here in Lakewood has become a model for communities across the globe,” the Rosh HaYeshiva explained. “Just last month, I was invited to address an event in Mexico City called ‘Amudei HaOlam,’ which was directly inspired by our Ma’amad Adirei HaTorah.” He recounted how several members of the Mexican kehilla had attended last year’s Ma’amad Adirei HaTorah in Wells Fargo and left so deeply inspired that they decided to create a similar framework in their own community. “They told me how seeing the partnership between ba’alei battim and kollel yungeleit in Lakewood opened their eyes to what was possible in their own kehilla,” the Rosh HaYeshiva said.

-New Jersey would lose upwards of $3.6 billion a year in federal Medicaid funding, and more than 300,000 residents would risk losing their health insurance under a bill narrowly approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on May 22, analysts said

- Trump: The European Union, which was formed for the primary purpose of taking advantage of the United States on TRADE, has been very difficult to deal with. Their powerful Trade Barriers, Vat Taxes, ridiculous Corporate Penalties, Non-Monetary Trade Barriers, Monetary Manipulations, unfair and unjustified lawsuits against Americans Companies, and more, have led to a Trade Deficit with the U.S. of more than $250,000,000 a year, a number which is totally unacceptable. Our discussions with them are going nowhere! Therefore, I am recommending a straight 50% Tariff on the European Union, starting on June 1, 2025. There is no Tariff if the product is built or manufactured in the United States. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

- Chuck schumer responds to Trump banning international students from Harvard. "It is an egregious abuse of power by Trump to punish Harvard. It is a vendetta with no basis in fact or law, and it harms innocent student victims.
This is what authoritarians do to bully and intimidate those who resist their power and freely express their opinions and right to educate according to standards of excellence and inclusion."

- A major development in Yerushalayim has left the chareidi community shaken: A kollel yungerman, a father of ten young children, has been held in Shin Bet custody for over two days on suspicion of endangering state security—without legal representation and without being informed of the specific charges against him.
According to close family members, who spoke to Kikar HaShabbat, the avreich, who runs a Torah hotline called “Sod HaChashmal,” was arrested at his home by Shin Bet agents two days ago. He has since been held in a detention facility and subjected to continuous interrogation.(Matzav)

Letter from Rav Dov Landau Shlita Ahead of Shavuos.

Rav Dov Landau Shlita has issued a heartfelt letter offering chizuk to yeshiva bochurim and kollel yungeleit in the days leading up to the Yom Tov of Shavuos. Amid growing instability and the looming threat of a draft, Rav Landau urges the Torah community to strengthen one another and their families, emphasizing that our primary tafkid (mission) is Torah learningthe very foundation upon which the world was created.

In the letter, he alludes to the potential for the chareidi political parties to leave the governing coalition if the Giyus (draft) law is not enacted in a way that protects Torah learners. He warns that Israeli authorities are openly plotting to recruit Torah scholars into the army, and if they attempt to do so by force, the Torah community will not remain silent. “If, God forbid, they recruit by force, we will not be able to stand by. We will be forced to take actions we do not wish to take, and we will stand together to defend each and every individual so that, God forbid, they are not drafted.”

Faa reports A recent public statement, Congressman Josh Gottheimer reaffirmed his opposition to federal school voucher initiatives that would provide tuition relief for families sending children to yeshivos and other private schools. The proposed program, supported by many in the Orthodox Jewish community, would allow parents to use public education funds for private religious schooling. Gottheimer called the plan "misguided" and pledged to fight against it in Congress. "Our public dollars should go toward strengthening our public schools, not diverting funds elsewhere," Gottheimer said. His stance puts him at odds with growing efforts in religious communities to secure equitable support for private education.

- Trump: I was extremely satisfied with the 50% Tariff allotment on the European Union, especially since they were "slow walking (to put it mildly!), our negotiations with them. Remember, I am empowered to "SET A DEAL" for Trade into the United States if we are unable to make a deal, or are treated unfairly. I have just been informed that the E.U. has called to quickly establish meeting dates. This is a positive event, and I hope that they will, FINALLY, like my same demand to China, open up the European Nations for Trade with the United States of America. They will BOTH be very happy, and successful, if they do!!

Why we say tefilas hashlah erev Rosh cbodesh sivan

Israel at war day 600

- Trump: I warned Netanyahu not to attack Iran because it could sabotage the nuclear talks.
I didn't warn him. I told him it wasn't appropriate. There are good talks. It's not appropriate now. If we can solve it through a document.... blowing up the labs without anyone being in them - that would be better. I told him it wasn't appropriate because we are very close to a solution. But that could change at any moment. It could change over a phone call... But right now I think they want to make a deal and it could save a lot of lives.

- White House envoy Steve Witkoff says the U.S. will send later today a new proposal for a Gaza hostage and ceasefire deal and stresses he has a good feeling about the chances to reach a temporary ceasefire and a long term resolution for the war

-Trump at the White House: I'm not frustrated with Netanyahu. Humanitarian aid is being brought into Gaza.

- Israel used the brand-new “Light Shield” laser anti-rocket system, which successfully destroyed many suicide drones fired by Hezbollah.

- Omer Shem Tov, who was held hostage by Hamas for over 500 days, says: “(The terrorists) were very scared of (Trump). They wanted Kamala to be elected. But as soon as Trump was elected, they understood he wants to bring the hostages back home. So immediately the way they treated me changed…My food, they treated me better.”

- Hamas published an official proclamation: Hamas states that it is investing significant efforts to stop the brutal war in the Gaza Strip, and recently reached an agreement with US envoy Steve Witkoff on a general framework that will achieve a permanent ceasefire, a complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the flow of aid, and the appointment of a professional committee that will assume control of the administration of the Strip immediately after the agreement is announced."
"The agreement includes the release of ten Israeli hostages and several bodies in exchange for the release of an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners, on the guarantees of the mediators. The movement is awaiting a final answer to the framework of this agreement."

- The IDF attacked an aircraft belonging to the Houthi terrorist organization at the central airport in Sana'a. The aircraft that were attacked were used by the Houthi terrorist regime to transport terrorists who were promoting terrorist acts against the State of Israel.

- PM Netanyahu reveals in the Knesset: Iran wanted to come to Assad's aid from the east. I sent F-16 jets to deter their forward deployment, and they returned. "How did Julani advance? Damascus and Beirut at our feet."

- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a recorded speech at a conference against anti-Semitism: The slogan 'Free Palestine'"is a rallying cry for the murder of Jews."
Rubio also said, "Those who call for a boycott of Israel are calling for a boycott of their Jewish neighbors and classmates. Those who call for violence against Israelis are calling for violence against Jews. Those who call for the destruction of Israel are calling for the destruction of the Jewish people. Therefore, as we send our prayers to the families of Yaron and Sarah, we must stand shoulder to shoulder with Israel."

- Netanyahu in the Knesset: "We eliminated Muhammad Sinwar."

- Prime Minister Netanyahu's Office: The article in the New York Times - Fake News.

- New York Times: Even after meeting with Trump in April - Netanyahu ordered the Israeli security apparatus to prepare for a military attack on Iran. According to the report, Netanyahu and Trump had a tense phone call in recent days, and the prime minister threatened to sabotage the talks by attacking Iran's nuclear facilities.
The US fears that Israel could launch an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities within 7 hours (from the moment it decides to do so) - which would allow only a short window of time to try to stop the move. Israel is concerned that Trump is so eager to reach an agreement with Iran - that he would agree to an agreement that would allow Iran to continue enriching uranium.
One of the emerging outlines, to please Israel and hawkish elements in Congress, is that Iran will be forced to remove all military-grade enriched uranium from its territory.

-Report in the Wall Street Journal: Karim Khan, the chief prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, planned to request international arrest warrants for Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir before he went on administrative leave from his post due to the investigation against him.

- Gaza food boxes: Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF): Two distribution centers operate in the southern Gaza Strip. One of them has finished distributing all the food in stock - a total of 8 aid trucks. So far, the two distribution centers have delivered 14,550 food packages, each of which is enough for about five people for 4.6 days. A total of 840,262 meals have been distributed so far.
