You're unconfirmed report can be moved to the confirmed side.
Here is how it hacppened:
Monday night there was a meeting of the Republican Club. Mike was introduced as the next mayor and as customary he said a few words. Well, it seems he said a few too many words because before he even
finished, Vaad member, Ben Heineman was seen bolting out the door dialing an unknown number on his phone. The smart money says he was dialing Aron Kotler, however, this detail remains unconfirmed. The next thing Mike knows is that he is being summoned to a meeting at Israel Schenkolewski's house. ... At the meeting, Mike was told in no uncertain terms that he will not be the mayor. When he turned to Menashe for help, Menashe reportedly said, "I'm sorry Mike, but I'm a Vaad man first, Republican second."
It was further decided that in addition to Ray Coles becoming the mayor, Menashe will serve as Deputy Mayor.
This story raises a host of questions. First, why not just Menashe the mayor again? No matter how they spin it, it simply is not an accepted practice to appoint a member of the minority party to the Mayor's position
Second, where is the Republican club? The president of the club, Craig Theibault, needs to take action. Has he called George Gilmore? Why hasn't he called an emergency club meeting to tell the committeeman that if they vote for Ray they will be expelled from the club?
Not because Ray is a bad guy, he isn't, but because this is people making a farce of our system and thumbing their noses at people like you and me who care about this town and not just themselves.
Third. Mike is being punished because he was advocating for change. Pure and simple. We have one more chance to show these yo-yos that we are serious. Pack the auditorium at next week's committtee meeting and demand that Mike be appointed mayor so he can begin to implement the change that is so sorely needed in this town.
