A Report on the Tomchei Shabbos Dinner

The APP reported on the Rubashkin Seudas Hodaah in Lakewood in conjunction with the Tomchei Shabbos Dinner. The report  was headlined Trump set him free; now, Iowa slaughterhouse exec coming to Lakewood. "The Orthodox community on a national level undertook this project because there was an injustice done to one of our members, Rabbi Avi Schnall, told the APP.
Mr. Ben Svarc of Tomchei said "Our organization and the Rubashkin family have had a relationship 25-years-plus,they were one of our first suppliers soo Tmchei Shabbos of Lakewood extended an invitation to Rubashkin, and he accepted, Svarc said.
Svarc said Tomchei Shabbos assists about 500 families in a month, and even more during Jewish holidays. The organization spent nearly $6 million to provide free or at-cost food in 2015, according to tax filings, and helps people around New Jersey, but primarily in Lakewood.

The APP Reporter who covers Lakewood tweeted during the event "Sholom Rubashkin is largely speaking about how the feds got his case wrong (even though he was convicted after trial of 80+ counts) and about "fake news." He's got that slogan in common with Donald Trump, who commuted his sentence in December. "Other things the two men have in common: Feeling inappropriately targeted by the FBI."
In summation "Rubashkin spoke for an hour about being mistreated in prison and the target of antisemitism. He encourages his fellow Jews to stay strong in the face of that."

Gas prices keep rising in NJ

Drivers in New Jersey are seeing gas prices only going up. Analysts predict prices will be at over $3 a gallon this coming spring.  AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in is $2.71. Last year at this time gas in NJ was $2.35. The 25 cents gas tax in NJ is partly to blame for the high price.
Analysts point that Opec production cuts, and exports of oil to South America due to Valenzuela economy collapse are the factors for the price increase.

The Levaya of Rav Dovid Grossman ZT"L will take place in Lakewood Yeshiva BMG at 8:00 pm Kevurah in Eretz Yisrael
from Matzav.com -It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the sudden and tragic passing of Rav Dovid Grossman zt”l, a noted marbitz Torah and maggid shiur who resided in Los Angeles.
Rav Grossman passed away following a motor vehicle accident this morning on the West Shore Expressway in Staten Island, New York, shortly after 4 a.m. He was transported to nearby Richmond University Medical Center, where he passed away.

Rav Grossman learned during his formative years at the Philadelphia Yeshiva, under Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky and Rav Elya Svei. He then briefly learned at the Novardok Yeshiva in France, before joining Yeshivas Mir in Yerushalayim, where he studied under Rav Chaim
Shmulevitz. While learning in Yerushalayim, Rav Grossman became close to Rav Meir Soloveitchik, son of the Brisker Rov, Rav Yitzchok Zev Soloveitchik, and acquired much of the Brisker derech in learning, which he fused with the derech he learned in the Mir, creating a unique synthesis that he passed on to his thousands of talmidim and shiur listeners over the years.

While in Eretz Yisroel, Rav Grossman met his wife, Rachel, who today is the principal of Valley Torah High School’s girl division in Valley Village, California.

After returning to America, Rav Grossman learned at Bais Medrash Govoah for seven years before becoming one of the founding members of the Lakewood Kollel in Los Angeles in 1975.

In 1981, Rav Grossman helped start Yeshiva Gedolah of Los Angeles, where he served as the twelfth grade maggid shiur until 2008.

Concurrent with his position as a maggid shiur at Yeshiva Gedolah, he opened a post-high school bais medrash in Los Angeles for working young adults and college students, becoming rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Hachaim.

Rav Grossman was renowned for his Daf Yomi shiurim, and his recordings on every daf of Shas are available at dafyomi.org. These Daf Yomi shiurim were delivered between 1985 and 1992 in Los Angeles. Rav Grossman finished Shas many times and was known as a boki in many areas of Torah. His clarity and lucidity made his shiurim so unique, and his warm and caring personality endeared him to one and all. His sudden passing has plunged his talmidim and many admirers into mourning.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mrs. Rachel Grossman, and their children, Mrs. Sarah Fischer, Mrs. Tzippy Rokowsky, Mrs. Efrat Privalsky, R’ Meir Grossman, R’ Avi Grossman, R’ Binyomin Grossman, R’ Moshe Grossman and R’ Chaim Grossman.

Shul, Unanimously Approved By Jackson Planning Board

The Jackson Planning board unanimously approved a shul that will be the first formal Orthodox shul in the township. The new Royal Grove shul for the Vien Kehila in Jackson will be built on a 3.75 acre lot on East Veterans Highway near Grand Boulevard off of whitesville Rd next to the Jackson police Dept. There was not much board members can do to deny it legally since it was a conforming application based on the lot size. The shul can hold up to 300 people.
APP reports Some members were concerned about if the shul could handle a congregation operating at maximum capacity. Mr Heller of roya grove responded  “There are quite a few families moving right around that area But the reality of 100 is overestimated. On any given day, it’s 20 to 30 people – 50 people, maximum.”

Battle Against Child Alienation Goes Up a Notch

$

Child alienation is unfortunately a problem in Lakewood especially when it comes to divorce. Recently much awareness has been made in the frum community about children being ripped away from parents in most cases from the father with guidance of therapists and "askanim".

A website in Lakewood Firstamendmantactivist has taken the battle to the next level by by posting a "Wall of shame" with names and pictures of those involved in alienating children.

Singer and Badchan R' Yoely Lebowitz who was alienated from his father sang to the crowd at Keiravtuni shabbaton, he told over a powerful and emotional story which he not only witnessed but was involved with himself. (see  Video of the event.)  Divorce is not pretty but there is nothing worse for children when they are used as pawns and ripped away from a parent at a time in their life when they need the the most. see video by Dr. Meir Wikler at his Lakewood vaad on Children of Divorce.
