Mayor: Town Will Fix DEP Water Issue, Downplays Lakewood Growth

The DEP rejected the Lakewood master plan for failing to address adequate water supply but would reconsider if the town shows  there would be enough potable water for drinking, cooking and bathing. Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles told NJ.com  the township and the company (NJ American water) would do just that. "Unfortunately, I'm upset with my professionals for sending in paperwork that wasn't complete," Coles told NJ Advance Media. "Our guys are working on it."

The mayor also downplayed the  projected growth of Lakewood. The very same growth excuse they used to ram the master plan through and approve density, now they are downplaying it to get a pass from the DEP.

"The mayor rejected assertions that the proposed changes would double Lakewood's population, because growth was already spreading into neighboring communities. "A lot of people thought of Lakewood going to a quarter of a million people because the Orthodox community would only go to Lakewood," Coles said. "I don't believe it's realistic."

The Nashim Tzidkaniyos in Lakewood are hurt and insulted, and angry, yes they dont read the APP but thats not the point. Talking to the press is always dangerous one never knows what will be added or what will be left out.
What was said about Lakewood Kollel wives is a sad attempt to appease and pander to something or to portray them as educated sophisticated with degrees  as if thats the goal in life to pursue and only in that fashion.

It undermined the thousands of women not only in lakewood but in all frum communities who kill themselves day in day out putting themselves out there for their families. What about the ones who dont pursue a career, the morahs, the baby sitters, the ones who have office jobs the stay at home moms the geshikte ones and tho not geshikte ones.  To quote from the article "Most Orthodox women in our communities complete their (bachelor's degree) and many get a masters,""Since we get married younger than in society at large, we have an anomaly: women working while men are still in school. This balances out as the men enter the workforce."
While there is an attempt to make it appear that most frum ladies get careers the article itself debunked it with data
According to U.S. Census estimates, 28 percent of women living in Lakewood age 25 or older have a college degree. Statewide 44 percent of women have college diplomas.

to add insult to injury to show balance a statement from a women who left the
community was quoted that Jewish women being treated as second-class citizens It's just such open, honest misogyny. When Pitching articles to the media you cant innocently claim its beyond my control.

To our dear family and friends,
Returning home from our dear Ahuva's levaya to sit Shiva is the hardest thing we have ever done. Raising our dear Ahuva Malka a"h and memories of her will stay in our hearts forever.
Her special smile and precious soul touched all that knew her.
Ahuva, we learned so much from you. You taught us to be happy, to appreciate life, and how to love and care.
There were so many heartwarming experiences our family underwent through the challenges of raising Ahuva a”h. We ask the tzibor to join us in doing two very special things as a zchus for Ahuva;

‘Hug your children, put away your phones and listen to each child. Use every precious minute you have to love them.
Our Rav said that when a child is niftar the biggest zchus and nechama is for a sefer Torah to be written and dedicated lieulu nishmasa - we are asking everyone to unite and help us make this a reality. Please click on the link, every bit will help make this possible.

We can't tell you how much the outpouring of love and care in the last two days has meant to us. The outpouring of chessed and how much you care has helped us get through each day. Each act of chessed should be a zchus for our dear Ahuva … May her holy neshama stand as a melitzas yosher for her family and all of klal yisroel.

YERUSHALAYIM - Hamodia

Nine youths from a premilitary academy in Tel Aviv were killed and several went missing after being swept away in torrential floods Thursday afternon during a hike in Nahal Tzafit, a riverbed in the Arava region, located east of the Dead Sea.

Thirteen other members of the group were found and retrieved by rescuers without harm. Two were lightly hurt. Magen David Adom and Zaka rescue services, along with police and IDF helicopters helped search for the missing students.

The IAF’s Elite 669 Search and Rescue Unit was called in to search for the remaining missing students.

Witnesses said that the students dispersed in different directions in the rocky terrain when the floodwaters arrived. About half were able to climb up to higher ground, but some went missing. Most were found by rescue workers, but several remain missing. The names of those killed in the tragedy have not yet been released.

Israel has had heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours. Normally arid river beds that run from west to east and collect large amounts of water deposit torrents into the Dead Sea and the Rift Valley region that runs south along the Negev Desert

Lakewood Primary Elections Who to Vote for?

Submitted.
Time to Give up on Lakewood?

Lakewood residents are getting their absentee ballots now. But who is there to vote for? Should we continue allowing the corruption of the incumbents to ruin our quality of life and keep raising our taxes year after year? No candidates decided to run to oppose Menashe and Meir for whatever reason. I am writing this as a concerned citizen that believes we can still save Lakewood from all the problems.

Write in Louie Follman And Harold Herskowitz for the Republican candidates in the primary. They have both said they would run in the general election if the community wanted them to. This is our last chance to save our town and try to stop the insanity.

Tell anyone you know that they should write in Louie Follman And Harold Herskowitz in the Place of Menashe miller and his running mate.

Get the word out and on voting day let's make sure we have a future in Lakewood.
Sincerely
Concerned citizens of Lakewood

Erev Shabbos Traffic Advisory: Lane Closures on GSP North Bound Local Lanes

$
0
0
Two of the three northbound local lanes of the Garden State Parkway over Middletown-Lincroft Road in Middletown will be closed from 10 a.m. Friday, April 27th, through 5 a.m. Monday, April 30th, as permanent repairs are made to a bridge damaged in an accident in November.

The impact of this work on northbound Parkway traffic through the area could be severe, especially on Friday.  Motorists who plan to travel north through the area are advised to allow extra time and to consider alternate routes.

The bridge is located between exits 109 and 114 at milepost 112.1. Two steel beams beneath the bridge were severely damaged on Nov. 2, 2017, when they
were struck by a backhoe being towed on a trailer traveling beneath the Parkway on Middletown-Lincroft Road. One lane of the northbound Parkway had to be closed after the collision, and it remained closed for two days while temporary steel beams were installed.

Construction crews will be working around the clock through the weekend in order to complete the permanent repairs and reopen the lanes before the Monday morning rush.

To check on travel conditions on the Parkway through the weekend, call 511 from a hands-free mobile device or download the SafeTripNJ smartphone app. Live traffic camera views of the roadway are available under the Travel Tools tab on the Authority’s website, www.njta.com.

Middletown-Lincroft Road will be closed through the weekend to accommodate the construction activities.
