Can't Book a Hall for the Simcha

$

Its harder to find a place or book a hall for Shabbos sheva Brachos than it is for a Chasuna in Lakewood. As Families grow the immediate mishpacha is that much bigger making it difficult to host a shabbos sheva brachos at home. Lately people are booking a  hal for shabbos sheva brachos first and than book a the wedding date based on that.
A letter  in this weeks Voice of Lakewood cofferoom complained that Locals in Lakewood can not book dates for a wedding even as Lakewood has 5 chasunah halls because halls are booking weddings for out of towners.

"It has come to my attention, that out of towners are making chasunas in Lakewood even now at the busiest wedding season of the year and therefore we Lakewooders have to wait months between engagement and wedding. I have nothing against out of towners however i believe every city has at least one wedding hall and for us Lakewood families there are ka'h five wedding halls, bt we are ka'h a lot of families in Lakewood.
Please lets all put a stop to this by calling up our halls and telling them not to book chasunahs where the Chosson and kallah are from out of town if anyone has a different better way to put a stop to this please share it with the rest of us. etc.."

Obviously printing these letters makes buzz and entertainment but the halls are allowed to do whatever they want and to rent it out to whomever they choose. These halls do not belong to the Lakewood community. Secondly have we forgotten that not so long ago Lakewooders would make chasunahs in Brooklyn. Did the people in Brooklyn tell the halls not to allow us in? did anyone remember the cheap affordable halls in Brooklyn, Le chateau, Ateres Shlomo, Torah Vyirah, Vayoel Moshe, Rose castle, Continental, Viznitz, Ateres Avrohom, Ateres Chaya, The Concord etc..the list goes on and on. We should be thankful that B"H we have wedding halls in Lakewood  with no major parking issues, and we should be proud to host simchas for anyone that wishes.

Lakewood BOE Attorney Contract Violates State Regulations

APP reports The $600,000 annual contract given to the lawyer for Lakewood's public schools  violates state education regulations according to records obtained by the Asbury Park Press
In an April letter, a New Jersey Department of Education official told the Lakewood Board of Education that the board cannot automatically pay lawyer Michael Inzelbuch a portion of that contact — $50,000 each month — without first seeing Inzelbuch's itemized billings to justify that cost.

Inzelbuch said Monday he has added more details to his bills to comply with state regulations.

And he also said he will accept the job for another year, despite saying one month ago he would turn it down.  "I made a conscious decision, I can work with them or litigate against them," Inzelbuch said, pledging to be an advocate for Lakewood's approximately 6,000 public school students.
