Write in Candidates for Primaries

Lakewood residents are getting their absentee ballots now. But who is there to vote for? Should we continue allowing the corruption to ruin our quality of life and keep raising our taxes year after year? No candidates decided to run to oppose Menashe and Meir for whatever reason. I am writing this as a concerned citizen that believes we can still save Lakewood from all the problems.

Write in Louie Follman And Harold Herskowitz for the Republican candidates in the primary. They have both said they would run in the general election if the community wanted them to. This is our last chance to save our town and try to stop the insanity.
Tell anyone you know that they should write in Louie Follman And Harold Herskowitz in the Place of Menashe miller and his running mate.
Get the word out and on voting day let's make sure we have a future in Lakewood. Sincerely, Concerned citizens of Lakewood

STATEMENT FROM AGUDATH ISRAEL OF AMERICA

Statement of Agudath Israel of America Regarding the Opening of the United States Embassy in Jerusalem

Today, with the opening of the United States Embassy in Jerusalem, we witnessed a promise kept. This historic event was a reflection of the will of the American people, as strongly expressed by a bipartisan Congress. And, the decision to move the American embassy to Jerusalem was the result of President Trump's bold leadership and his clear understanding, as was so often emphasized today,  that it was the right thing to do - that it was the "truth."

Indeed, the quest for peace can only be based on a foundation of truth. Proposals that ignore or deny the realities of today's Middle East are doomed to failure and will never provide a productive path forward. One such undeniable reality is that Jerusalem is - and always will be - Israel's capital. Nations that refuse to acknowledge that fact are simply perpetuating an illusion and providing an excuse for Israel's adversaries not to make peace and to continue warfare and terror. Moreover, by not recognizing that Israel has the right that all nations enjoy in selecting its capital city, they are projecting the image that Israel is something "less than sovereign," something "less than a nation." Peace can never be built on that foundation.

The United States has always been a beacon of peace and freedom for the rest of the world, and its recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital is a profoundly important statement attesting to the shared values and the inextricable bond the two countries enjoy, and to the direction the Middle East must go to find a true and lasting peace.

As was been repeated numerous times today, Jerusalem is the eternal heart and soul, and the eternal capital, of the Jewish people. That reality is ethereal and never changing. It is a unique relationship that is above politics, governments or the nations of the world. We will continue to pray daily toward Jerusalem, yearn for its rebuilding and seek its peace.

Harav Simcha Bunim Ehrenfeld, zt”l.
Early Tuesday morning Klal Yisrael was saddened to learn of the petirah of the Mattersdorfer Rav, Harav Simcha Bunim Ehrenfeld, zt”l, Chaver Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah and Rosh Yeshivah, Yeshivas Chasan Sofer in Boro Park.

The Rav was hospitalized last month in very serious condition. Tefillos for his refuah were held across the Torah world. But alas, the gezeirah was sealed and the Rav was niftar overnight Rosh Chodesh Sivan.

Harav Ehrenfeld was the son of Harav Shmuel Ehrenfeld, zt”l, Rav of Mattersdorf in Austria who later founded the Chasan Sofer Yeshiva in Brooklyn. They were descendants of the Chasam Sofer, zt”l; his great-grandfather, Harav Dovid Tzvi Ehrenfeld, zt”l, was the Chasam Sofer’s oldest son-in-law.

After his father’s petirah, on the second day of Shavuos 5740/1980, Harav Simcha Bunim was appointed Mattersdorfer Rav and the Rosh Yeshivah of Yeshivah Chasan Sofer, where he taught many talmidim over the years.

The Rav, zt”l, took an active part in the leadership of American Jewry as a leading member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel.

The levayah will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m., leaving from Yeshivas Chasan Sofer, 1876 50th St.

Kevurah will be in Eretz Yisrael on Wednesday.

Jackson Mayor  Michael Reina  appointed 8 chaplains to the township 2 of them are Lakewood residents. Shore News network reports that Township residents, including those of the growing Orthodox community expressed their disapproval  of two Lakewood rabbis to the public clergy in April. One Frum resident said  “I worry that the appointment of outsiders who are not Jackson residents will only exacerbate tensions at a time when hostilities are already high,” he added. In an editorial the paper called on the Lakewood Rabbis to reject the chaplain appointment.

Lawsuit to Stop Eagle Ridge Moves Forward

APP reports the lawsuit to stop eagle Ridge development in Lakewood  from taking over the Golf course survived its first challenge.
The report says "Developer GDMS Holdings LLC had argued in court papers that residents who filed the lawsuit had no legal backing to request a trust that would prevent development on the 27-hole course. In a court hearing Friday, Ocean County Superior Court Judge Marlene Lynch Ford said the request was premature and allowed the case to move forward, according to Michele Donato, a lawyer representing residents near Eagle Ridge Golf Club who filed the lawsuit. "We’ve gotten through this first hurdle," Donato said. "They fought very hard to try and dismiss us but they did not prevail." Read more at APP
